160 A minimum, 200-480 V — SIRIUS soft starter for motor starting
The Siemens 3RW5246-2TC14 is a SIRIUS-branded hybrid switching device — a soft starter rated for a minimum operating current of 160 A and a voltage range of 200 to 480 V. This is the minimum current the unit can regulate; actual motor full-load current must be set within the device's adjustable range above this floor. Trip class is configurable: default Class 10A, with selectable 10E and 20E per IEC 60947-4-2.
Fieldbus-ready with PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Modbus, EtherNet/IP
The 3RW5246-2TC14 supports PROFIBUS, PROFINET standard, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP natively. This means it drops into most common industrial networks without an external gateway — the integrator picks the protocol at configuration, not at procurement. PROFIenergy is available when paired with the PROFINET standard communication module, enabling energy-saving pauses during idle periods. The unit also logs errors to an internal logbook (requires the special accessory), which helps during commissioning fault tracing.
Lifecycle status is active (current production). No stock-holding claim — sourced per RFQ. Approvals include CE marking, UL, and CSA — the unit is accepted in North American and European regulatory jurisdictions without additional certification work.
Mounting and clearance — screw fixing, 393 x 210 x 203 mm
Fastening method is screw fixing; the unit measures 393 mm high, 210 mm wide, and 203 mm deep. Mounting position allows vertical surface with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt front/back — flexible for tight panel layouts. Required clearance distances: 100 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 0 mm backwards, 75 mm downwards, and 5 mm at the sides. These ensure adequate airflow for the 160 A minimum rating and prevent thermal stacking in multi-unit enclosures.
Operating temperature and derating — -25 to +60 °C
At elevated temperatures the continuous current capability drops — the derating curve in the manual governs the actual limit for the 160 A minimum setting. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, with potential contact lifting at 12 g / 11 ms — relevant for installations near heavy rotating equipment or in mobile applications.
