What the 200 A minimum rating means for your motor circuit
The Siemens 3RW5247-2AC05 SIRIUS soft starter has a minimum rated operating current of 200 A. Trip Class 10A is the default setting per IEC 60947-4-2.
Fieldbus and control integration
This soft starter supports Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, PROFIBUS, and PROFINET, so it drops into most plant-floor networks without a protocol gateway. PROFINET users also get PROFIenergy for energy management during idle phases. The analog output is configurable as 4–20 mA or 0–10 V for feeding motor current or load status to a local panel meter or PLC analog input. Remote reset is handled by cycling the control supply voltage off and back on, which is the standard method for clearing a fault from a remote HMI or DCS without a site visit. An auto-reset function is also available, useful for unattended pump or fan stations where a momentary overload is acceptable.
Mounting is by screw fixing on a vertical surface, rotatable ±90° and tiltable ±22.5° front-to-back, which gives flexibility in tight enclosures. The unit measures 393 mm high, 210 mm wide, and 203 mm deep — substantial enough to require a backplate or sub-panel, not a DIN rail. Clearance requirements are 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm forward, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm backward, so plan the enclosure layout accordingly. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, adequate for most machine-mounted installations.
