The Siemens SIRIUS 3RW5247-2AC15 soft starter sets its minimum load at 200 A (15% of the smallest settable Ie) and operates across a 200-600 V rated range. The trip class defaults to CLASS 10A per IEC 60947-4-2, with selectable 10E or 20E — this directly governs how long the starter can hold current during a start before tripping, so you match it to the motor's acceleration time and the driven load's inertia. A 200 A floor means this unit is sized for larger motor branches — think 90-110 kW ranges at 400 V — not fractional-horsepower starts. The 200-600 V rail covers standard low-voltage networks globally; confirm the line voltage lands within that window before committing the BOM line.
Fieldbus slice: PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU/TCP, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET standard
This starter ships with onboard PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET standard communication — no separate gateway card needed for the common industrial Ethernet and serial fieldbuses. The PROFINET variant also supports PROFIenergy for coordinated energy management during idle phases. The analog output defaults to 4-20 mA but is parameterizable to 0-10 V via the High Feature HMI accessory. If torque control is required, note this unit explicitly does not offer it — the soft torque and pump ramp down features handle starting profiles instead.
Mounting and cooling: screw fixing, derating above 40 °C, clearance zones
The mounting position allows vertical surface mounting with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt forward/back. Clearance requirements: 100 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 0 mm backwards, 75 mm downwards, 5 mm at the sides — these are the minimum air gaps for heat dissipation and arc containment. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, dropping to 12 g / 11 ms if potential contact lifting is a concern.
