Trip class and motor protection
The 3RW5247-6AC15 ships with CLASS 10A as the default trip class per IEC 60947-4-2, meaning it disconnects the motor within 10 seconds at 7.2× Ie — the standard for standard-duty induction motors driving pumps, fans, and compressors. You can reparameterize to CLASS 10E or 20E via the integrated fieldbus interface if the load inertia demands a longer acceleration ramp without nuisance tripping. Minimum settable motor current is 200 A, so this unit fits NEMA 5–6 frame motors or IEC 200–250 A motor full-load current ranges. Below that, the internal current transformer resolution cannot guarantee accurate protection.
Fieldbus and analog feedback
This soft starter speaks PROFIBUS DP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP natively — no separate communication module needed. PROFINET standard is also supported, with PROFIenergy available when paired with the PROFINET communication module. The analog output delivers 4–20 mA by default, parameterizable to 0–10 V via the High Feature HMI. That gives the PLC a direct motor current signal for process monitoring or trend logging without adding a separate transducer.
Clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm forward, 5 mm at the sides, 0 mm backward — tight enough for most standard enclosures. Shock resistance is 15 g / 11 ms, with potential contact lifting noted above 12 g / 11 ms — relevant if the panel is near a large contactor or motor starter bank.
Approvals include CE, UL, and CSA — covering installations in North America and the European Union without additional certification paperwork.
