Trip class flexibility for motor protection
The 3RW5544-2HA16 offers selectable trip classes: CLASS 10A / 10E (default), 20E, and 30E per IEC 60947-4-2. This lets you match the overload curve to the motor's starting duty — CLASS 10 for high-inertia loads that need a fast trip on stall, CLASS 20 or 30 for longer acceleration times on conveyors or crushers. Rated supply voltage spans 200 to 690 V, covering 400 V and 480 V mains without a tap change. The control voltage accepts 110–250 V at 50 or 60 Hz, so it works across European and North American line frequencies.
Fieldbus and analog feedback for SCADA integration
Built-in PROFIBUS, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP mean you can drop this soft starter onto most plant networks without an external gateway. The analog output defaults to 4–20 mA but can be switched to 0–10 V — useful for feeding motor current or torque to a PLC analog input without a separate transducer. The event list and error logbook (with trace function) let you diagnose trip causes from the HMI or SCADA historian, rather than walking to the panel. Firmware updates are field-loadable, so you can apply later feature releases without swapping hardware.
ATEX and IECEx certification for hazardous zones
ATEX and IECEx certification (both listed as Yes) means this soft starter can be installed in gas or dust hazardous areas — typically Zone 2 or Zone 22, depending on the enclosure. The service factor of 1.15 provides a 15 % continuous overload margin above the motor FLA, which helps avoid nuisance trips in borderline applications. DC braking, voltage ramp, pump ramp down, and breakaway pulse are built in — no external add-on modules needed for common pump or conveyor starting profiles.
Mounting dimensions and clearances
The unit measures 393 mm high, 210 mm wide, and 203 mm deep. Minimum clearance requirements: 100 mm above, 75 mm below, 10 mm in front, 5 mm at the sides, and 0 mm behind. This fits a standard 600 mm deep enclosure with room for wiring ducts.
