The Siemens 3SF3100-0GW00-0BA2 is a communication-capable position switch with an integrated AS-i (Actuator-Sensor Interface) adapter, designed for direct connection to an AS-i network without a separate bus coupler or I/O block. It uses a mechanical positive-opening switching function (1 NC contact, no NO contacts) and a twist lever actuator with a roller crank. The metal housing, painted and rated IP65, follows the block design per EN 50041, making it suitable for washdown environments and industrial floors where coolant or dust is present. The screw-fixing method secures it to standard machine frames or conveyor stands. Positive opening (per IEC 60947-5-1) means the NC contact is mechanically forced open when the actuator is depressed — even if the contacts weld. AS-i connection and wiring
Connection is via AS-i insulation displacement method — the AS-i flat cable is pressed directly into the switch's base, no separate T-piece or M12 connector needed. This reduces wiring points and panel clutter on a line with multiple AS-i nodes.
