The Siemens 3SF3100-1FV00-0BA2 is a communication-capable position switch with an integrated AS-i adapter, designed for direct connection to an AS-interface network without a separate I/O module. It carries one normally-closed (NC) contact with positive opening operation per IEC 60947-5-1, meaning the NC contact is mechanically forced open when the actuator is depressed — no weld-sticking failure can leave a safety signal high. That makes it suitable for safety-related limit sensing in guarding circuits where a dropped signal must be guaranteed.
The block housing conforms to EN 50041, a standard form factor that shares the same mounting footprint and actuator positions as other EN 50041 limit switches, so it drops into existing cutouts without re-drilling the panel or machine frame. The angular roller lever actuator is designed for cam-operated or sliding-door applications where the actuating force comes at an angle rather than straight-on. Screw fixing means it mounts with standard M4 or M5 hardware through the housing slots — no adapter plate needed.
AS-i integration
Connection is via AS-i insulation displacement method, which pierces the flat AS-i cable to tap power and data — no separate tee or junction box. The switch reports its NC state directly onto the AS-i bus as a digital input, readable by any AS-i master. The painted metal enclosure provides mechanical robustness for high-cycle applications; the mechanical active principle means no solid-state electronics inside the switch body itself, just the AS-i adapter chip.
