Communication-capable position switch with AS-i interface
The Siemens 3SF3120-8EV00-0BA1 is a communication-capable position switch that integrates directly onto an AS-i network via an insulation displacement connection, eliminating the need for parallel hardwiring of the safety contacts back to a controller. The positive opening mechanism (per IEC 60947-5-1) is mechanically forced — when the roller lever is actuated, the NC contacts open regardless of contact welding, which is the requirement for a safety-related limit switch in a Category 3 or 4 structure. The two NC contacts provide the normally-closed safety channel; there are no NO auxiliary contacts on this variant.
IP65 metal housing for washdown environments
Rated IP65, the metal enclosure (painted, block form per EN 50041) withstands hose-directed water and dust ingress — suitable for food-and-bev washdown zones, machining coolant splash, or outdoor conveyor transfer points. The screw fixing method and standard EN 50041 mounting pattern mean it replaces an existing block-style limit switch on the same footprint without drilling new holes.
