The Siemens 3SF3200-6XX04-0BA1 is a communication-capable position switch with an integrated AS-i adapter, designed for direct connection to an AS-interface network via the insulation displacement method. It uses a mechanical active principle with positive opening — the normally-closed contacts are forced open by the actuator, even if the contacts weld — which is the safety-relevant feature required for category 4 / PL e circuits per EN ISO 13849-1. The housing is a molded-plastic block per EN 50047, screw-fixed, rated IP65 for washdown or dusty environments. Two NC contacts, no NO contacts; a separate actuator is ordered separately.
Fit and deployment
The 31 mm wide block housing (EN 50047) mounts with two screws through the fixing holes — standard panel or machine-frame installation. The AS-i flat cable is pierced by the insulation displacement terminals inside the adapter; no separate wiring to a gateway module is needed. The separate actuator means the switch body and the actuating plunger are two pieces; the actuator mounts on the guard or door, the switch body on the frame. Positive opening (IEC 60947-5-1, clause 3) guarantees the NC contacts open mechanically when the actuator is displaced, even if the contacts are welded — this is the core requirement for interlocking movable guards in safety circuits.
