What it is and where it lands
The Siemens 3SF5900-0CC is a connection element for AS-i (Actuator-Sensor Interface) networks, designed to link an AS-i enclosure to the fieldbus via an M12 connector. It carries an IP67 rating, so the housing and the M12 interface are sealed against dust and low-pressure water jets — suitable for washdown zones, outdoor conveyor lines, or food-grade areas where a standard IP20 junction box would fail.
Mounting and integration
Fastening method is direct mounting — no DIN-rail clip, no snap-on foot. The body screws or bolts flat to a panel or machine frame. This is the typical fit for an AS-i drop box or junction enclosure where the element is part of the enclosure wall, not a rail-mounted module. The M20 cable gland entry accepts the AS-i trunk cable; the M12 connector on the other side mates to the sensor/actuator drop line.
