What it is and where it goes
The Siemens 3SF5900-0CG is a connection element that routes the AS-i flat cable through an enclosure wall. It's the piece that brings the AS-i bus into a metal or plastic enclosure with 1 to 3 control points, using an M20 cable gland entry. That's another SKU I don't need to second-guess — it's the standard pass-through for AS-i trunk lines in a control panel. Rated IP67, so the seal holds up in washdown environments and dusty plant floors. The operating range of -25 to +70 °C covers most indoor industrial conditions without derating.
Mounting and integration
Fastens by direct mounting — no DIN rail required, no snap-on foot. You drill or punch the enclosure, secure the element, and run the flat cable through. The M20 thread is a standard knockout size, so it fits existing gland plates without adapters.
