The Siemens 3SK1213-2AB40 is a SIRIUS output expansion module for safety relay enabling circuits. It adds contact capacity to a safety relay system — think of it as a power contact multiplier for safety-related circuits, not a standalone safety relay itself. It carries 10 A per contact at 24 VDC (same rating at 115 V and 230 V), with a total current limit of 30 A across all contacts. That 30 A total is the package limit, not per-pin — watch it when paralleling outputs. The 24 VDC coil holds at rated value, and the switching time is 20 ms typical, 70 ms max at DC. That means it's fast enough for most safety gate and e-stop circuits, but not for light-curtain blanking where you'd need a dedicated safety controller with faster response.
Horizontal position only. Dimensions are 90 mm wide, 100 mm high, 121.6 mm deep — that's a three-wide module footprint on the rail. Spring-loaded push-in terminals accept solid or stranded wire 20–16 AWG (1x or 2x), or with ferrule 0.5–1.5 mm². No tool needed for the push-in; strip length is the usual 10 mm for spring clamps. Power loss maxes at 5.5 W. Humidity tolerance 10–95% non-condensing.
UL approved. EMC compliance to IEC 60947-5-1 and IEC 61000. Insulation voltage rated 300 V. Shock resistance 5 g for 10 ms.
