The Siemens 3SK1230-2AW20 is a SIRIUS safety power supply — 24 V DC output at 0.6 A, fed from a 110-240 V AC/DC input. It's designed to power the logic side of a safety relay or a small safety controller, not a field actuator bank. The 0.6 A rated output current is enough for the 24 V bus of one or two safety modules; expect the internal power loss at 17 W to be dissipated into the enclosure air, so leave breathing space in a densely packed panel.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail — screw and snap-on fastening. The 22.5 mm width and 100 mm height match the standard SIRIUS safety relay footprint; depth is 121.6 mm, which is shallow enough to clear most gland plates. Spring-loaded push-in terminals accept solid 1x (20-16 AWG) or 2x (20-16 AWG) and stranded 1x (20-16 AWG) or 2x (20-16 AWG). Mount in any position.
Protection and environment
Enclosure is IP20 — protected against solid objects >12.5 mm, no water ingress rating. That is fine for a dry cabinet; not for washdown zones. Operates from -25 °C to +60 °C, stores from -40 °C to +80 °C. Pollution degree 3 and overvoltage category III mean it's rated for industrial environments with conductive pollution and transient overvoltages from the mains. Shock resistance 10g / 11 ms. Relative humidity 10-95% non-condensing.
Output and diagnostics
Output is short-circuit proof and galvanically isolated from the input — a fault on the 24 V side won't propagate back to the AC line. The green LED lights when 24 V is present. Input operates on AC or DC across 0.85-1.1 x rated voltage, so it holds regulation through a 10% brownout. Surge voltage resistance at 4 kV and insulation voltage rated 300 V.
