MCCB for Line Protection — 100 A, 3-Pole, High Interrupting Capacity
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1010-2ED36-0HC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for a continuous current of 100 A at 40 °C, with the TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release providing line protection. It carries a 52.5 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V and 32 kA at 415 V, which means it can safely clear high fault currents in a distribution panel without upstream coordination issues. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) gives headroom for 690 V line-to-line systems, where it still breaks 7.5 kA.
Thermal Derating and Operating Range
The breaker holds its full 100 A rating from 40 °C through 50 °C. Above that, it derates linearly: 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 50 °C, size the branch circuit for the derated value, not the nameplate 100 A. The operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C, with storage from -40 °C to 80 °C.
Integrated Auxiliary and Shunt Trip
This variant includes a shunt trip (STL) for remote tripping and two high-quality auxiliary switches (HQ) for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator panel. The integrated auxiliary trip order code is 3VA9688-0BL30 — if you're replacing that sub-assembly, that's the part number. No undervoltage release, no ground fault monitoring, and no communication module on this build.
Physical Fit and Panel Integration
The breaker measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep. It mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate via the standard SENTRON footprint. The 76.2 mm width (roughly 3 inches) is a common MCCB pitch — it will drop into a panel designed for a 3-pole SENTRON frame without re-drilling. Verify the depth clearance: 70 mm plus wiring space for the line and load lugs.
