What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1010-2ED36-0KA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. Three-pole, rated 100 A continuous at 40 °C (derated to 91 A at 70 °C), it handles the typical load of a main feeder or large subfeed in a 400 V industrial installation. The TM210 thermal-magnetic release provides fixed thermal and magnetic trip settings — no adjustment, which simplifies specification but locks the curve. A built-in shunt trip (STL) allows remote tripping via a control signal, useful for emergency-off or interlock circuits.
Breaking capacity — where it fits
Breaking capacity is 52.5 kA at 240 V, 32 kA at 415 V, and 13.6 kA at 440 V. At 690 V it still interrupts 7.5 kA. For a 400 V panel with a transformer-fed fault current around 25 kA, this breaker holds a comfortable margin. The 800 V rated insulation voltage means it can be used in 690 V systems without series-derating concerns. Mounts on a standard DIN rail — 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall — so it fits a typical 3-pole MCCB slot without forcing a wider enclosure.
What the shunt trip adds
The shunt trip release (STL) is factory-installed, not a field-add-on kit. Apply a control voltage (typically 24 VDC or 110–240 VAC, depending on the STL variant — the order code does not specify the coil voltage, so confirm that at order) and the breaker opens regardless of the handle position. Useful for remote emergency stop, undervoltage protection schemes, or automated load shedding. No undervoltage release is present on this variant.
