What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1010-3ED36-0DC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a continuous current rating of 100 A at 40 °C, with minimal derating up to 70 °C (91 A at 70 °C). The interrupting capacity is 75.6 kA at 240 V AC, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at both 500 V and 690 V — covering most industrial low-voltage fault levels. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V.
Key ratings and what they mean for fit
The 100 A rating at 40 °C is the thermal continuous current; it drops to 91 A at 70 °C ambient, so if the panel runs hot, size the load accordingly. The 75.6 kA at 240 V is the maximum fault current the breaker can safely interrupt at that voltage — useful for high-fault-capacity service entrances. At 690 V the same breaker still clears 7.5 kA, which is adequate for most 690 V motor circuits. The 3-pole design handles three-phase loads. An undervoltage release is built in, and the auxiliary switch configuration is two HQ auxiliary switches plus an undervoltage release (UVR).
Panel integration
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The 70 mm depth is shallow enough for most standard distribution enclosures. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss is 27.5 W — factor that into enclosure thermal calculations.
