SENTRON 3VA1010-3ED42-0BC0 — 100 A MCCB for Line Protection
The Siemens 3VA1010-3ED42-0BC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current, configured as a 4-pole unit for line protection duty. It carries the TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release, which means the thermal element handles overloads and the magnetic element handles short-circuits — no electronic trip unit to program, just a fixed curve suited for straightforward feeder or distribution protection. Breaking capacity runs 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V — enough for most industrial panelboards and sub-distribution boards where fault current is high at the lower voltages. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) gives headroom for 690 V systems without derating the insulation path.
Temperature Derating and Panel Fit
The 100 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that it derates: 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs hot — say, a non-ventilated enclosure near a kiln or boiler — the 70 °C figure is the one to size against, not the nameplate 100 A. Dimensions: 70 mm deep, 101.6 mm wide, 130 mm high. The 101.6 mm width (4 inches) is the standard MCCB footprint for a 4-pole frame in this class — it drops into a SENTRON panelboard or a DIN-rail adapter without surprises. Front IP40 means the breaker face is protected against tools and small wires, but the rear terminals are open to the panel interior, so clearance to live busbars follows standard IEC 60947-2 rules.
Auxiliary Contacts and Undervoltage Release
Comes with 2 auxiliary switches (HQ type) factory-fitted — these change state with the breaker mechanism, not the handle position, so they report the actual contact status. Useful for a remote open/closed indication or to interlock a downstream contactor. An undervoltage release (UVR) is built in (design: undervoltage release). When the control voltage drops below the dropout threshold, the UVR trips the breaker open — standard for motor feeder circuits where you want the breaker to open on loss of control power, preventing an automatic restart when power returns. The UVR coil is a separate order (3VA9608-0BB11) if you need a replacement or spare.
