What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1010-3ED42-0HC0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a continuous current rating of 100 A at 40 °C, with minimal thermal derating up to 70 °C — still delivering 91 A at the top of its operating range. The interrupting capacity hits 75.6 kA at 240 V AC, stepping down to 52.5 kA at 415 V and 7.5 kA at 690 V, which covers most industrial service-entrance and feeder applications where high fault current is expected. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, and the maximum power loss sits at 25 W — useful to know for enclosure thermal calculations. The breaker ships with a shunt trip (STL) release and two auxiliary switches (HQ) pre-installed, so you don't need to order those separately for remote tripping or status feedback.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 101.6 mm wide, 130 mm tall, and 70 mm deep — a 4-pole MCCB that fits standard SENTRON mounting plates and busbar systems. The 70 mm depth is shallow enough for most 200 mm deep enclosures, leaving room for wiring gutters. No communication module or ground-fault monitoring on this variant; it's a straight line-protection breaker with the shunt trip and aux contacts as the only add-ons.
