What this 3VA1010 variant is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1010-4ED32-0DA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current, configured for line protection with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It carries an undervoltage release (UVR) as the auxiliary release — the specific integrated auxiliary trip unit is order code 3VA9608-0BB25. The front face is protected to IP40, meaning it's sealed against tools and small solids but not against moisture ingress; this is a panel-mounted device, not a washdown enclosure.
Breaking capacity across the voltage range
This MCCB delivers 121 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V. Those are the rated short-circuit breaking capacities (Icu per IEC 60947-2) at each voltage level — the breaker can safely clear a fault up to those magnitudes without welding or rupturing. For a 100 A frame, the 121 kA at 240 V is high enough for most secondary-side distribution; the 11.9 kA at 690 V still covers typical industrial motor-circuit fault levels at that voltage.
Thermal derating and operating range
The continuous current rating holds at 100 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that, it derates linearly: 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C. The operating ambient range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to +80 °C. The rated insulation voltage (Ui) is 800 V, which sets the maximum voltage the insulation system is designed to withstand continuously.
Panel fit and mechanical endurance
Dimensions are 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The 76.2 mm width is three 25.4 mm pole pitches — standard for a 3-pole MCCB in a SENTRON 3VA frame. Mechanical endurance is rated at 15,000 operations (latching cycles). No auxiliary contact version is fitted as shipped; no communication function, no phase failure detection, no ground fault monitoring. The undervoltage release is the only auxiliary release present.
