MCCB for feeder and branch circuit protection
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1010-4ED36-0BC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic release for line protection in distribution panels and motor control centers. Its interrupting capacity hits 121 kA at 240 V AC and 75.6 kA at 415 V AC, which means it can handle high-fault scenarios at common industrial voltages without cascading failure upstream. The 70 mm depth and 76.2 mm width fit standard SENTRON panel cutouts and busbar spacings, making it a direct swap into existing Siemens MCCB lineups.
Breaking capacity and thermal derating
At 440 V the breaker still clears 52.5 kA; at 690 V it drops to 11.9 kA — the SCCR headroom shrinks as system voltage rises, so coordination studies need the specific voltage point. Thermal derating is minimal through 50 °C (still 100 A), then steps down to 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C — usable in warm enclosures if you account for the drop. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, so the breaker is rated for 690 V systems with margin on the insulation path.
Panel integration and auxiliary options
The breaker ships with 2 auxiliary switches (HQ type) installed — part number 3VA9608-0BB11 — for remote status feedback to a PLC or annunciator. An undervoltage release (UVR) is integrated, so the breaker can be tripped remotely on loss of control voltage — typical for emergency-stop circuits or undervoltage protection schemes. Front protection is IP40, meaning tools and fingers stay out of the live terminals in a closed panel; no washdown rating, so keep it in a dry enclosure.
