The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1010-4ED42-0AF0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 100 A at 40 °C, designed for line protection. Its TM210 thermal-magnetic release handles overload and short-circuit events without undervoltage or ground-fault monitoring built in.
Breaking capacity and coordination
This MCCB delivers 121 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V, dropping to 75.6 kA at 415 V and 52.5 kA at 440 V. At 500 V and 690 V it holds 11.9 kA — enough for most industrial distribution panels where fault current stays under 12 kA at line voltage. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so the breaker can be applied in 480/277 V and 600 V systems with solid headroom on dielectric stress.
Thermal derating and power loss
The breaker carries 100 A continuously from 40 °C up to 50 °C. Above that it derates: 98 A at 55 °C, 96 A at 60 °C, 94 A at 65 °C, and 91 A at 70 °C. Maximum power loss is 25 W — factor that into enclosure thermal calculations for a panel with multiple breakers side by side.
Panel fit and auxiliary switching
Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 101.6 mm wide, and 130 mm tall — standard 4-pole MCCB footprint for DIN-rail or panel-mount enclosures. The auxiliary switch block includes one auxiliary switch plus one trip alarm switch (HQ configuration), giving remote status indication without a separate module. A trip indicator is built in, and the breaker operates from -25 °C to 70 °C ambient; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
