SENTRON 3VA1020-3ED32-0DA0 — 20 A MCCB with TM210 Release
The Siemens 3VA1020-3ED32-0DA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 20 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a 3-pole configuration and a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. The breaker carries a breaking capacity of 75.6 kA at 240 V and 52.5 kA at 415 V, which means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to those levels without upstream cascading — a critical spec for SCCR compliance in industrial control panels.
At elevated panel temperatures, the rating derates: still 20 A at 50 °C, then 19.2 A at 55 °C, 18.8 A at 60 °C, 18.4 A at 65 °C, and 18 A at 70 °C. For a panel running at 60 °C, the effective continuous load limit is 18.8 A — not 20 A. The TM210 release provides thermal-magnetic protection with a fixed magnetic trip threshold, suitable for cable and busbar protection in line duty. Breaking capacity varies significantly by voltage: 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. At 415 V, the 52.5 kA rating covers most industrial distribution scenarios; at 690 V, the 7.5 kA limit means this breaker is not suitable for high-fault 690 V buswork without upstream current-limiting fuses. There is no integrated auxiliary contact, no communication function, no phase failure detection, and no ground fault monitoring.
The 70 mm depth fits within typical 200 mm deep enclosures, leaving room for wiring and busbar connections behind the breaker. The IP40 front protection allows for flush mounting in a panel door with a cutout, provided the rear is enclosed.
