What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1025-3ED32-0JH0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in industrial and commercial power distribution. It is a 3-pole unit rated 25 A at 40 °C, with a maximum breaking capacity of 75.6 kA at 240 V AC. The insulation voltage is rated 800 V, so it handles 480Y/277 V and 600 V panel feeds without issue.
Breaking capacity across voltages
This MCCB delivers 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 500 V and 690 V. That means it can clear high-fault currents on the secondary side of a 150 kVA transformer, but at 480 V the available fault current needs to stay under 32 kA — typical for most industrial panelboards. The 7.5 kA at 690 V covers 690 V drives or mining gear.
Thermal derating and operating range
Rated 25 A continuous from 40 °C up to 50 °C. At 55 °C it derates to 24 A, and at 70 °C it holds 23 A. That's a shallow derating curve — useful if the breaker sits in a warm enclosure near other heat sources. Ambient operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss is 8.5 W.
Auxiliary and release configuration
Factory-fitted with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ configuration), and a shunt trip release (STL). No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module. The shunt trip allows remote tripping from a PLC or E-stop circuit — common for safety isolation in conveyor or HVAC systems.
Panel fit and dimensions
The 3VA1025-3ED32-0JH0 measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep. It mounts on a DIN rail or can be screw-fixed in a panel. The 76.2 mm width (3 inches) is a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint — fits existing busbar and enclosure cutouts without modification. The depth of 70 mm (2.76 in) leaves room for rear-access wiring in a 200 mm deep enclosure.
