The Siemens 3VA1040-2ED32-0CA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 40 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release for line protection in a 3-pole configuration. Its interrupting capacity reaches 52.5 kA at 240 V, 32 kA at 415 V, 13.6 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V — these are the fault levels it can safely clear at the respective system voltages, which decides whether it holds on a high-fault panelboard or needs an upstream current-limiting fuse.
Sizing and derating for panel fit
The breaker measures 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, and 130 mm high — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that fits most DIN-rail or screw-mount panel layouts without requiring a gland-plate rework. Rated continuous current holds at 40 A from 40 °C through 50 °C; above that it derates to 38.4 A at 55 °C, 37.6 A at 60 °C, 36.8 A at 65 °C, and 36 A at 70 °C.
The integrated auxiliary trip is listed separately as order code 3VA9608-0BB24; if you need that spare, order it alongside the breaker.
