The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1040-3ED36-0CA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 40 A at 40 °C, built for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a TM210 thermal-magnetic release — fixed thermal and magnetic trip settings — and an integrated undervoltage release (UVR) that trips the breaker when supply voltage drops below a threshold, protecting downstream loads from brownout conditions.
Breaking capacity and selectivity
Rated 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 500 V and 690 V. The 75.6 kA at 240 V covers high-fault utility feeds in North American panels; the 52.5 kA at 415 V handles European 400 V distribution. The 7.5 kA at 690 V is enough for most industrial motor branch circuits at that voltage. Insulation voltage is rated 800 V, meaning the breaker can be applied in 690 V systems with full margin.
Thermal derating and ambient limits
Full 40 A rating holds from 40 °C up through 50 °C. At 55 °C it derates to 38.4 A, at 60 °C to 37.6 A, at 65 °C to 36.8 A, and at 70 °C to 36 A. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range -40 °C to 80 °C. The TM210 release is a fixed thermal-magnetic design — no interchangeable trip units, so the breaker is sized at order time for the load.
Dimensions and panel fit
Width 76.2 mm (3 in), height 130 mm (5.12 in), depth 70 mm (2.76 in). Three-pole footprint fits standard SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts and busbar arrangements. No trip indicator, no voltage trigger, no communication function — this is a basic line-protection MCCB with undervoltage release only.
