Breaking capacity and thermal derating
The 3VA1050-2ED36-0DH0: The 50 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C — no derating needed in a typical 40 °C panel interior. Above 50 °C it steps down: 48 A at 55 °C, 47 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, and 45 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs hot, size the load side for the 45 A floor at 70 °C to avoid nuisance tripping. The auxiliary contact block is a 2-auxiliary-switch plus 1-trip-alarm-switch HQ configuration. The trip indicator is mechanical, visible on the front face without opening the door.
Physical fit and panel integration
Footprint: 76.2 mm wide (standard 3-pole MCCB pitch), 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep. The IP40 protection on the front means the breaker face is protected against solid objects over 1 mm; the body is not sealed for washdown. Mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount base per the 3VA installation manual. The undervoltage release trips the breaker when control voltage drops below the dropout threshold — common for emergency-stop circuits or undervoltage protection on motor feeders.
Compliance and documentation
The 3VA series carries IEC 60947-2 certification for molded case circuit breakers. The manufacturer provides a declaration of conformity, CE marking, and RoHS/REACH compliance documentation on request. The reference code per DIN EN 81346-2 is Q.
