The Siemens 3VA1050-2ED36-0JC0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 100 circuit breaker rated for line protection with a fixed TM210 thermal-magnetic trip unit. Overload protection is set at In = 50 A (Ir = 50 A fixed), and short-circuit protection trips at Ii = 10 × In, or 500 A. The breaking capacity is Icu = 16 kA at 415 V, which places it in breaking capacity class B — sufficient for most industrial distribution panels where fault currents stay under that threshold. This variant includes a shunt trip (STL) coil rated for 110–127 V DC or AC 50/60 Hz, plus two auxiliary switches (HQ). The clamp-type terminals accept copper conductors without lug kits, which speeds panel wiring. The fixed Ir means no adjustment dial on the front — the overload curve is locked at 50 A, so confirm the continuous load matches before specifying.
Integration and panel fit
The 3VA1 frame mounts on a DIN rail or can be screw-fixed to a backplate. The clamp terminals accept 0.2–2.5 mm² solid or stranded copper, per the wiring practice for this class. The shunt trip coil draws its control voltage from a separate 110–127 V supply — verify polarity on DC circuits; the coil is polarity-sensitive. Two auxiliary switches (HQ) are built in, providing status feedback for the open/closed position. These are rated for the control circuit voltage and can be wired into a PLC digital input or a status lamp circuit without an interposing relay.
