What this MCCB carries
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1050-2ED42-0JH0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 50 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release and an integrated shunt trip (STL). Breaking capacity hits 52.5 kA at 240 V, 32 kA at 415 V, and 13.6 kA at 440 V — enough headroom for most industrial distribution panels where fault current is high on the secondary side of a 500 kVA transformer. The TM210 release is a fixed thermal-magnetic type — no electronic adjustment, no communication module, no phase-failure detection. That keeps the part simple and reliable for straight line protection, but if you need selective coordination curves or remote trip indication beyond the built-in alarm switch, this isn't the variant. Auxiliary contacts come as 2 form-C switches plus a separate trip alarm switch (HQ), so you get status feedback and a dedicated fault signal without adding an external relay block.
Sourcing and lifecycle
The shunt trip (STL) is a factory-integrated option, not a field-add-on kit. If your panel design calls for undervoltage release instead, this order code won't do it — the 3VA1050-2ED42-0JH0 has no undervoltage release fitted.
Panel fit and mounting
Footprint is 101.6 mm wide by 130 mm tall by 70 mm deep — standard SENTRON 3VA frame size for a 4-pole 50 A breaker. It mounts on a DIN rail or can be screw-fixed to a backplate; the IP40 front face is fine for enclosed panels but not for washdown zones. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) means it's comfortable on 480 V and 600 V systems with margin. If you're swapping in a panel originally built around the 3VA1010-2ED42-0AE0, check the width — the 101.6 mm footprint is the same across the 3VA10xx frame, so it should drop in without busbar rework as long as the mounting holes align.
Temperature derating
Rated current holds at 50 A from 40 °C up to 50 °C. Above that it derates: 48 A at 55 °C, 47 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, and 45 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs hot, size the load accordingly — the breaker won't nuisance-trip, but you lose 10 % of the continuous rating at the top end. Storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C; operating ambient is -25 °C to 70 °C. That covers most indoor industrial environments, including unheated warehouses in cold climates.
