What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1050-3ED32-0DA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection — the primary feeder or distribution breaker in a panel. It carries a continuous current rating of 50 A up to 40 °C ambient, derating to 45 A at 70 °C (–). The interrupting capacity is 75.6 kA at 240 V AC, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 500 V and 690 V (–). That 75.6 kA at 240 V is the headline number for high-fault industrial panels — it means the breaker can safely clear a bolted fault up to that level without rupturing or welding contacts.
Trip unit and release
Fitted with the TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release — a fixed, non-interchangeable trip that provides inverse-time thermal protection for overloads and instantaneous magnetic protection for short circuits. The breaker also includes an undervoltage release (UVR), which trips the breaker when supply voltage drops below a set threshold — useful for preventing motor restart after a brownout or for emergency-stop circuits that need a mechanical drop-out.
Panel fit and dimensions
Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, and 130 mm high (–). The 76.2 mm width (3 inches) is the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for a 50 A frame — it drops into a panel with the usual DIN-rail or screw-mount pattern. No special adapter required for a standard SENTRON distribution board.
Key ratings at a glance
Insulation voltage rated at 800 V. Power loss at rated current is 17.1 W maximum. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C, storage range -40 °C to 80 °C.
