Breaking capacity and selectivity
The 3VA1050-3ED36-0AD0: Rated short-circuit breaking capacity hits 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V — the 240 V figure is the standout for North American 277/480 V panels where the line-to-neutral fault current can be high. At 415 V, 52.5 kA gives headroom for most industrial main feeders without cascading upstream. The 690 V rating (7.5 kA) is lower but still covers the majority of 690 V motor branch faults. The rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, so the breaker is insulated for 690 V systems with margin.
Thermal derating and ambient limits
Rated current holds at 50 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then steps down: 48 A at 55 °C, 47 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, 45 A at 70 °C. That's a shallow derating curve — only 10 % drop from 40 °C to 70 °C — so it's stable in warm enclosures. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Dimensions are 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, 70 mm deep — fits standard 3-pole MCCB panel cutouts. Front protection is IP40, so keep it inside a panel, not in a washdown zone.
Auxiliary contacts and release options
Comes fitted with 3 auxiliary switches (HQ type) for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator panel — no separate auxiliary release module needed for basic signalling. The TM210 release is the standard thermal-magnetic type; no ground-fault monitoring or undervoltage release on this order code. Mechanical endurance is rated at 15,000 operations, typical for a line-protection MCCB in secondary distribution.
