Rated current and thermal derating
The 3VA1050-3ED36-0CC0: Rated continuous current Iu is 50 A at 40 °C ambient, and it holds that rating through 50 °C. Above that, the TM210 thermal-magnetic release derates linearly: 48 A at 55 °C, 47 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, 45 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 50 °C, the effective continuous current drops — size the upstream conductor and downstream load accordingly.
Breaking capacity by system voltage
This MCCB delivers 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. The 415 V figure is the one that matters for most European 400 V distribution panels — 52.5 kA is high enough for main or sub-feed positions in most industrial installations. At 690 V the 7.5 kA rating limits it to low-fault locations or transformer-secondaries with reduced available current.
Construction and auxiliary options
Three-pole line-protection version with a TM210 thermal-magnetic fixed-trip release. No voltage trip, no phase-failure detection, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module — this is a straight thermal-magnetic breaker. It ships with two HQ auxiliary switches (order code 3VA9608-0BB24 for the integrated auxiliary trip) and an undervoltage release (UVR) fitted. Front face is IP40; the rest of the enclosure is unrated, so mount it inside a panel, not in a washdown zone. Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth — standard SENTRON 3VA footprint, drops into the same DIN-rail or screw-mount pattern as other 3VA frames.
Environmental and mechanical limits
Operating ambient -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range -40 °C to +80 °C. Mechanical endurance rated at 15 000 operations — adequate for a distribution breaker that cycles infrequently, not a switching-duty device. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, which covers 480/600 V class systems with margin. Reference code per DIN EN 81346-2 is Q (switching device).
