What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1050-4ED32-0AD0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection in distribution panels. It carries 50 A continuous at 40 °C through three poles, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release that handles both overload and short-circuit trip curves without an external controller. The interrupting ratings climb to 121 kA at 240 V AC and 75.6 kA at 415 V AC, so it clears high-fault conditions upstream of branch panels or motor control centers. At 690 V the rating drops to 11.9 kA, which still covers most industrial service-entrance duty. It ships with three HQ auxiliary switches for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator panel — no undervoltage release, no shunt trip, no communication module on this variant. The front face carries an IP40 rating, meaning it keeps out tools and wires over 1 mm but is not sealed against moisture; install it inside a rated enclosure.
Thermal derating and ambient range
The breaker holds its full 50 A rating from 40 °C up to 50 °C. Above that it derates linearly: 48 A at 55 °C, 47 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, and 45 A at the 70 °C operating maximum. If your panel runs hot near a drive or transformer, size the branch load for the derated figure at the actual ambient. Storage range spans -40 °C to 80 °C, so it survives warehouse extremes and shipping through cold climates without damage.
Physical fit and panel integration
The 3VA1050-4ED32-0AD0 measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep. That 76.2 mm width (3-inch footprint) is standard for 3-pole 50 A MCCBs in the SENTRON range — it fits the same mounting slots as the 3VA1010-2ED32-0JA0 without rewiring or bus-bar repositioning. Mount it on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate using the integrated mounting brackets. The IP40 front means the breaker face can be exposed in a dead-front panel; no additional cover is needed for the operator handle.
