Panel fit and protection profile
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1050-4ED42-0DH0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) sized for line protection in distribution panels, with a continuous current rating of 50 A at 40 °C — the same rating holds through 50 °C, then derates gradually to 45 A at 70 °C. Breaking capacity is 121 kA at 240 V AC, dropping to 75.6 kA at 415 V and 52.5 kA at 440 V — still well into the high-fault range for most industrial service entrances or sub-distribution boards. It ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) fitted and carries two auxiliary switches plus one trip alarm switch (HQ configuration), so it drops the load on loss of control voltage and reports its status back to the PLC or panel indicators without an add-on module.
Mounting and integration
Dimensions are 130 mm high, 101.6 mm wide, 70 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA frame size that bolts into a panel or mounts on a mounting plate; the 4-pole width is wider than a 3-pole unit, so verify the backpanel layout if replacing a three-pole breaker. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. Power dissipation at rated load is 17.1 W — factor that into enclosure thermal calculations if the panel is densely packed. Insulation voltage is rated 800 V, so the breaker is suitable for 690 V line-to-line systems common in European industrial networks.
