MCCB for main feeder or large branch — 50 A continuous, 4-pole, with shunt trip
The Siemens 3VA1050-4ED42-0HA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 50 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a 4-pole configuration and a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It carries a 121 kA interrupting rating at 240 V and 75.6 kA at 415 V, making it suitable for high-fault-capacity main feeders or large branch circuits in industrial switchboards and panelboards. The front-face IP40 rating means it is protected against solid objects over 1 mm but not sealed against moisture — standard for indoor panel mounting.
Interrupting capacity and thermal derating — what the numbers mean for your panel
The 121 kA interrupting rating at 240 V and 75.6 kA at 415 V give this MCCB headroom for high-fault installations where upstream transformer capacity is large. At 690 V the rating drops to 11.9 kA — still adequate for most 690 V industrial loads, but verify the available fault current at that voltage. The TM210 release holds 50 A continuously from 40 °C up to 50 °C; above that it derates to 48 A at 55 °C, 47 A at 60 °C, 46 A at 65 °C, and 45 A at 70 °C. For a panel running at 55 °C ambient, the effective continuous rating is 48 A, not the nameplate 50 A.
Shunt trip included — no auxiliary contacts, no communication
This variant ships with a shunt trip release (STL) for remote tripping, ordered separately as 3VA9688-0BL30. It does not include undervoltage release, auxiliary contacts, phase failure detection, ground fault monitoring, or communication functions. The N-conductor protection is also omitted. For applications requiring remote status feedback or ground fault protection, a different 3VA variant or an add-on accessory kit is needed.
Lifecycle and sourcing — current production, quoted to order
The lifecycle stage is listed as current production. This MCCB is sourced through independent distribution channels and quoted to order against an RFQ. Availability and current pricing are confirmed at quote time. No official successor has been announced; the 3VA family remains the active SENTRON platform for molded case breakers.
