Line protection MCCB, 63 A, 4 poles
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1063-2ED42-0AC0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C ambient, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic release for line protection duty. It carries a 52.5 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V and 32 kA at 415 V, which means it can safely clear high-fault bolted shorts on a 400 V distribution bus without upstream coordination headaches. The 70 mm depth and 101.6 mm width fit standard panelboard mounting — drops into a 4-pole slot on a DIN-rail adapter plate or direct panel mount.
Thermal derating and interrupting capacity
The 63 A rating holds flat from 40 °C to 50 °C, then derates to 60.48 A at 55 °C and 56.7 A at 70 °C. For a panel running hot near the 70 °C operating limit, size the load at 56 A continuous, not 63. The interrupting curve drops with voltage: 52.5 kA at 240 V, 32 kA at 415 V, 13.6 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. That 7.5 kA at 690 V is the number to check if this breaker lands on a 690 V line — it's adequate for most industrial motor branch circuits but verify the available fault current at the panel.
Auxiliary contacts and enclosure protection
Factory-fitted with 2 auxiliary switches HQ (high-rupturing-capacity changeover contacts), so you get status feedback without an add-on module. The front face carries IP40 protection — fine for a closed panel, but not for washdown areas. The TM210 release is fixed thermal and magnetic; no voltage trigger, no undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring on this variant. Latching endurance is rated at 15 000 operations — enough for a main feeder or infrequent switching, not for a motor-starting duty cycle.
