63 A MCCB with TM210 release and shunt trip
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1063-3ED32-0HA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Interrupting capacity reaches 75.6 kA at 240 V and 52.5 kA at 415 V — figures that give the panel designer real SCCR headroom for high-fault utility feeds or transformer-secondaries. The built-in shunt trip (STL) allows remote tripping via a control signal, which is useful for emergency-stop circuits or undervoltage protection schemes.
Interrupting performance across voltages
At 440 V the breaker clears 32 kA, and at 690 V it still handles 7.5 kA. These ratings matter for selectivity coordination downstream of a larger MCCB or fused switch — the 3VA1063 can be the main feeder breaker in a sub-panel, letting downstream 10 kA or 18 kA devices ride through a fault without cascading. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it's comfortable on 480 V and 600 V class systems.
Thermal derating and operating range
The 63 A rating holds from 40 °C through 50 °C. At 55 °C it derates to 60.48 A, at 60 °C to 59.22 A, at 65 °C to 57.96 A, and at 70 °C to 56.7 A. Ambient temperature in the enclosure matters — if the panel runs hot from adjacent drives or transformers, the continuous current capability drops by about 10% at the top of the range. Operating temperature span is -25 °C to 70 °C.
Panel fit and dimensions
Width is 76.2 mm (roughly 3 inches), depth 70 mm, height 130 mm. It mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate via the breaker's integrated mounting feet. The IP40 front protection means it's fine for a standard enclosed panel — not rated for washdown or outdoor exposure without an additional enclosure.
Auxiliary and release options
This variant ships without auxiliary contacts or an undervoltage release. The shunt trip is the only integrated release — ordered separately as 3VA9688-0BL30 if you need the trip unit itself. Mechanical endurance is rated at 15 000 operations. No communication function, no phase-failure detection, no ground-fault monitoring — this is a straight line-protection breaker, not a multifunction power monitor.
