63 A MCCB with 75.6 kA interrupting capacity — line protection, shunt trip included
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1063-3ED32-0JA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous at 40 °C, with a 75.6 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V. That interrupting rating drops to 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 500 V or 690 V — so the available fault current at the panel location determines which voltage column governs the selection. The breaker carries an 800 V rated insulation voltage, meaning it's built for 480/277 V and 600 V systems with headroom. The TM210 thermal-magnetic trip unit provides line protection — no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module, no undervoltage release. The auxiliary release is a shunt trip (STL), which lets a remote signal (E-stop, PLC output, fire alarm) open the breaker independently of the overcurrent trip. That's a common requirement for emergency-off circuits in conveyor, pump, or HVAC panels.
Panel fit and thermal derating
The breaker measures 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, and 130 mm high — a standard SENTRON 3VA frame size that fits DIN-rail or screw-mount panels without surprises. The 3-pole width (76.2 mm) is a common 3-inch footprint; verify side-by-side spacing against adjacent breakers or busbar connectors. Thermal derating is published: 63 A holds flat from 40 °C to 50 °C, then drops to 62 A at 55 °C, 61 A at 60 °C, 60 A at 65 °C, and 58 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs above 50 °C, the continuous load must be reduced accordingly. Maximum power loss is 17.3 W — negligible for most enclosures but worth checking in a sealed, high-density cabinet.
