MCCB for line protection — 63 A, 3-pole, TM210 release
The Siemens 3VA1063-3ED36-0AD0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a thermal-magnetic TM210 overcurrent release. It is a 3-pole unit configured for line protection, meaning it guards the feeder or downstream distribution against overload and short-circuit faults — not motor or generator duty. The interrupting ratings climb to 75.6 kA at 240 V and 52.5 kA at 415 V, so it clears high-fault currents without cascading upstream in a coordinated panel.
Current derating and thermal limits
The breaker holds its full 63 A rating up to 50 °C ambient. Above that it derates linearly: 60.48 A at 55 °C, 59.22 A at 60 °C, 57.96 A at 65 °C, and 56.7 A at 70 °C. The operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. For a panel that runs hot — say a sealed enclosure near a furnace line — the 55 °C derate to 60.48 A is the figure to size against, not the 63 A nameplate.
Interrupting capacity by voltage
The 3VA1063-3ED36-0AD0 delivers 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. These are the maximum short-circuit currents the breaker can safely interrupt at each voltage level. In a 415 V distribution board with a prospective fault current of 50 kA, this breaker has headroom; at 690 V the 7.5 kA limit means it is suited only for low-fault installations or where upstream current-limiting devices reduce the let-through.
Auxiliary contacts and monitoring
This version ships with three auxiliary switches (HQ type) for remote status indication of the breaker's main contacts. There is no undervoltage release, no shunt trip (voltage trigger), no ground-fault monitoring, no phase-failure detection, and no communication module. The trip indicator is absent, so a blown breaker shows its state only through the auxiliary contacts or visual inspection of the handle. For a PLC input that needs a separate 'breaker tripped' signal, the three switches cover that; if you need undervoltage protection or ground-fault sensing, order a different 3VA variant.
Panel integration and footprint
The breaker measures 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm high, and 70 mm deep. It mounts on a DIN rail or direct panel via the SENTRON base. The IP40 front protection means it is suitable for dry indoor panels — not for washdown or outdoor enclosures without an additional cover. The three auxiliary switches add wiring points on the side; plan for the extra terminal space in the wireway.
