The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1063-3ED42-0JA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It is configured for line protection — no undervoltage release, no auxiliary contacts, no ground-fault monitoring, and no communication module. The interrupting ratings are 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V, which gives the site electrical engineer real selectivity headroom on a 415 V distribution board. The thermal derating curve is flat to 50 °C (63 A), then drops to 60.48 A at 55 °C, 59.22 A at 60 °C, 57.96 A at 65 °C, and 56.7 A at 70 °C. In a warm panel enclosure, the commissioning engineer sizes the load at the 55 °C or 60 °C figure, not the 40 °C nameplate.
Panel integration and compliance
The MCCB occupies a 101.6 mm wide by 130 mm tall by 70 mm deep footprint on the panel door or mounting plate. Front-face protection is IP40, so it is suitable for dry indoor enclosures but not washdown zones. The design of short-circuit protection for DC networks is covered in the 3VA molded case circuit breaker device manual — reference the manual for DC applications.
