What this MCCB is and what the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1063-4ED36-0DH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Line protection version — no ground-fault or voltage-trip module integrated, so it is sized for straight feeder or branch-circuit duty where you need adjustable thermal and fixed magnetic trip curves. The interrupting ratings are the headline: 121 kA at 240 V AC, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V. That 121 kA at 240 V means this breaker can safely clear a fault at the full available short-circuit current of a large transformer-fed panel without cascading upstream — it is not a current-limiting device, but it holds its integrity through the full let-through. At 690 V the 11.9 kA figure is the limit; spec it only where the fault current at that voltage stays under that ceiling. Thermal derating is flat from 40 °C to 50 °C at 63 A, then drops to 60.48 A at 55 °C, 59.22 A at 60 °C, 57.96 A at 65 °C, and 56.7 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs above 50 °C, the continuous load must be reduced accordingly — the breaker does not derate itself, so the panel designer applies the curve. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, which covers 480/277 V and 600 V systems with margin. The auxiliary contact block is a 2 NO/NC plus 1 trip-alarm switch (HQ type), wired separately from the undervoltage release (UVR) that is built into this variant. The UVR coil holds at nominal voltage; if the control voltage drops, the breaker trips — standard for emergency-stop or undervoltage protection schemes.
Sourcing and lifecycle — active, quoted to order
The integrated auxiliary trip accessory is order code 3VA9608-0BB25 — that is the factory-matched undervoltage release module. If the UVR fails in the field, order that sub-assembly rather than replacing the whole breaker.
Panel integration — footprint and mounting
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width (3-pole standard), 70 mm depth. The width is the critical dimension for DIN-rail or screw-mount spacing — three of these side by side occupy 228.6 mm of rail. Depth of 70 mm fits standard enclosure depths of 200 mm or more, leaving room for rear bus bars or cable ducts. Front IP40 protection means the breaker face is splash-resistant but not hose-down rated; install in a panel with an IP54 or better enclosure if washdown is required. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C, storage from -40 °C to 80 °C.
