63 A MCCB with shunt trip — line protection in a 70 mm footprint
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1063-4ED36-0HA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its interrupting capacity reaches 121 kA at 240 V AC, stepping down to 75.6 kA at 415 V and 52.5 kA at 440 V — figures that define the fault-clearing capability at the point of installation. The built-in shunt trip (STL) release allows remote tripping via a control signal, which is useful for emergency-stop circuits or supervisory shutdown. At 70 mm deep and 76.2 mm wide, it fits standard MCCB mounting slots on DIN rails or panel-mount adapters.
Thermal-magnetic curve and derating
The TM210 overcurrent release combines a thermal element for overload protection and a magnetic element for short-circuit response. The breaker maintains its full 63 A rating through 50 °C; above that, derating is gradual — 62 A at 55 °C, 61 A at 60 °C, 60 A at 65 °C, and 58 A at 70 °C. For panels operating near their upper ambient limit, this derating curve should be applied when sizing the load. The rated insulation voltage is 800 V, and the power loss at full load is 17.3 W maximum, which contributes to enclosure heat rise calculations.
