What it is and what it does
The SENTRON 3VA1063-4ED36-0JH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 63 A continuous, built for line protection in distribution panels. Its interrupting capacity hits 121 kA at 240 V and still holds 75.6 kA at 415 V — that's serious fault-clearing for high-available-current service entrances or industrial sub-distribution. The 800 V rated insulation voltage means it's comfortable on 480/600 V systems without derating the dielectric.
Thermal derating curve — the real current rating
This breaker carries 63 A flat from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C it drops to 62 A, at 60 °C to 61 A, at 65 °C to 60 A, and at 70 °C to 58 A. That's a gentle slope — you get nearly full rating in a warm panel. The maximum power loss is 17.3 W, so heat buildup in a tight enclosure is manageable.
Interrupting ratings by voltage
The interrupting ratings step down cleanly: 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. That 11.9 kA at 690 V is the limiting case — if your system's available fault current exceeds that at 690 V, you need a current-limiting upstream device or a higher-rated frame.
Built-in accessories and panel fit
Factory-fitted with a shunt trip (STL) release and a 2-auxiliary-switch + 1-trip-alarm-switch (HQ) block. That's enough for remote tripping and status feedback without adding external modules. The 70 mm depth × 76.2 mm width × 130 mm height footprint is standard SENTRON 3VA — it drops into the same DIN-rail or screw-mount cutout as other 3VA frames. Operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C ambient; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C.
