Siemens 3VA1063-4ED42-0CH0 — 63 A 4-Pole SENTRON MCCB, Line Protection
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1063-4ED42-0CH0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C, with the TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. This is the line protection variant — meaning it's configured for feeder and main distribution protection, not motor or generator duty. The interrupting ratings climb to 121 kA at 240 V and 75.6 kA at 415 V, so it handles high-fault utility feeds without cascading upstream. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) covers 480 V and 600 V class panels with margin.
Ratings and what they mean for fit
The 63 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C — no derating needed in a warm enclosure. At 55 °C it drops to 60.48 A, and at 70 °C it's 56.7 A. That's a gentle slope; you can still run 60 A through it at 60 °C. The SCCR curve matters for selectivity: 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V. If your transformer secondary is 480 V with 65 kA available fault current, this breaker covers it with headroom. The 4-pole construction means it switches the neutral as well as the three phases — required for TN-S or IT systems where the neutral is not solidly bonded to ground at the panel.
Integrated auxiliary contacts and undervoltage release
This MCCB ships with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ configuration) already integrated — no separate add-on module to order. The undervoltage release (UVR) is also built in, so the breaker drops out if control voltage falls below the dropout threshold. That's a common spec for safety circuits and emergency-stop chains where loss of control power must open the main feeder. The auxiliary contact version is factory-set; verify the wiring diagram matches your PLC input mapping before panel wiring.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 101.6 mm width, 70 mm depth. The width is a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint — fits existing SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts and busbar systems. Front protection is IP40, so it's suitable for enclosed distribution boards but not washdown environments. The depth of 70 mm leaves room for rear-connected busbars or cable ducts in a standard 200 mm deep enclosure.
