63 A MCCB with high interrupting capacity for line protection
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1063-4ED42-0HC0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a thermal-magnetic TM210 overcurrent release and a built-in shunt trip (STL) for remote tripping. It carries a 121 kA breaking capacity at 240 V, stepping down to 75.6 kA at 415 V and 52.5 kA at 440 V — enough headroom for most industrial distribution panels where fault current runs high on the secondary side of a large transformer. The line protection version means it's configured for feeder and main breaker duty, not motor branch circuit protection.
What the ratings mean for your panel
The 63 A rating holds flat from 40 °C up to 50 °C, then derates to 60.48 A at 55 °C and 56.7 A at 70 °C — so if the breaker sits in a hot enclosure near other heat sources, you lose about 10 % of capacity at the top end. The 121 kA interrupting rating at 240 V is the headline figure; at 415 V it's still 75.6 kA, and at 690 V it drops to 11.9 kA. That means this breaker is sized for low-voltage main or subfeed duty where available fault current is high, but it's not intended for 690 V systems with significant fault potential. The TM210 release is a fixed thermal-magnetic trip unit — no interchangeable rating plugs, no electronic adjustment. You set the breaker once at 63 A and it stays there. The integrated shunt trip (STL) lets you trip the breaker remotely from an emergency stop or a PLC digital output; the auxiliary contact version includes 2 HQ switches for status feedback to the control system.
Mechanical and environmental fit
The breaker measures 101.6 mm wide by 130 mm tall by 70 mm deep — a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint for DIN-rail or panel-mount installation. Front protection is IP40, so it's fine inside a closed cabinet but not rated for washdown or outdoor exposure. Mechanical endurance is rated at 15,000 cycles, which is typical for a distribution breaker not expected to switch daily. Storage temperature range is -40 °C to 80 °C; operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C.
