80 A MCCB with TM210 release — line protection for distribution panels
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1080-2ED36-0CC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 80 A continuous current at 40 °C, designed for line protection in low-voltage distribution. The TM210 thermal-magnetic release handles overload and short-circuit protection without external trip units. Breaking capacity reaches 52.5 kA at 240 V and 32 kA at 415 V, so it clears high-fault conditions upstream of branch feeders. The unit includes an integrated undervoltage release (UVR) and two HQ auxiliary switches for status feedback to a PLC or panel indicator. At 55 °C the continuous rating derates to 76.8 A, and at 70 °C it drops to 72 A — the thermal curve matters when the breaker sits in a crowded, poorly ventilated enclosure. The 70 mm depth and 76.2 mm width fit standard SENTRON mounting footprints; panel cutouts and busbar spacing match the 3VA family. IP40 on the front means it is protected against solid objects larger than 1 mm but not sealed against moisture — indoor panel use only.
Panel integration — mounting and auxiliary wiring
Mounts on a standard DIN rail or directly to a backplate via the SENTRON screw-mount kit. The 2 HQ auxiliary switches (form C) provide normally-open and normally-closed contacts for remote status — wire them to a digital input module for breaker-trip indication. The undervoltage release (UVR) coil must be continuously energized for the breaker to stay closed; a voltage dip below the dropout threshold opens the breaker automatically, which is useful for emergency-stop circuits or undervoltage protection schemes. No communication module is fitted — this is a standalone thermal-magnetic breaker, not a metering or networked device.
