What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1080-2ED42-0AE0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries an 80 A continuous rating at 40 °C ambient — that's the current it handles without tripping in a typical 40 °C panel environment — and derates slightly to 74 A at 70 °C, so you can still use it in a hot enclosure without oversizing. The TM210 overcurrent release combines a thermal element for overload protection and a magnetic element for short-circuit response. Four poles mean it switches all three phases plus neutral in a single unit, saving a separate neutral disconnect.
Breaking capacity — what the numbers mean for your fault level
This MCCB interrupts 52.5 kA at 240 V, 32 kA at 415 V, and 13.6 kA at 440 V. At 500 V and 690 V it holds 7.5 kA. Those are the maximum fault currents it can safely clear at each voltage level — if your available fault current at the panel exceeds the rating at your system voltage, you need a higher-rated breaker upstream or a current-limiting fuse ahead of it.
Panel integration
The breaker measures 130 mm high, 101.6 mm wide, and 70 mm deep — a 4-pole MCCB that fits standard distribution panel mounting. The 70 mm depth leaves room for wiring behind the panel door without crowding the gland plate.
