Breaking capacity and selectivity headroom
The 3VA1080-2ED42-0KH0: The interrupting ratings span the common industrial voltages: 52.5 kA at 240 V, 32 kA at 415 V, 13.6 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. At 415 V — the typical three-phase distribution level in much of the world — 32 kA gives you solid selectivity with upstream 63 kA or 100 kA MCCBs in a coordinated panel. The 690 V figure (7.5 kA) matters for wind-turbine or mining applications where the line-to-line voltage steps up.
Built-in auxiliary and shunt trip
Factory-fitted with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ contact configuration) and a shunt trip release (STL) — the shunt trip part number is 3VA9688-0BL33. That means remote tripping is wired in from the factory, no field kit to install. The auxiliary contacts give you status feedback for a PLC or remote I/O without adding a separate accessory module.
Panel fit and environmental limits
Dimensions are 101.6 mm wide, 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA footprint that drops into the same mounting cutout as other 4-pole 3VA frames. Front protection is IP40, so it's fine in a clean indoor panel but not for washdown zones. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range extends to -40 °C to 80 °C. Mechanical endurance is rated at 15,000 cycles — typical for a distribution MCCB that sees infrequent switching.
