SENTRON 3VA1080-3ED32-0AA0 — 80 A MCCB, 3-pole, TM210 release
The Siemens 3VA1080-3ED32-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 80 A at 40 °C with a 3-pole configuration and a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It is designed for line protection in distribution panels and industrial switchboards. Breaking capacity scales with system voltage: 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. That 75.6 kA at 240 V gives solid headroom for high-fault commercial and light industrial services where the utility transformer is close. The TM210 release uses a fixed thermal-magnetic curve — no electronic adjustment, no communication module, no ground-fault monitoring. It is a straightforward, serviceable breaker for standard overload and short-circuit protection where selectivity is set by frame size and cable impedance.
Thermal derating and panel fit
Rated 80 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates to 78 A at 55 °C, 77 A at 60 °C, 75 A at 65 °C, and 74 A at 70 °C. In a sealed, uncooled enclosure at 50 °C ambient, the breaker still delivers its full 80 A — no need to oversize the frame for a warm panel. Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The 70 mm depth is short enough to clear most 200 mm deep enclosures with room for outgoing cables behind the breaker. Width at 76.2 mm is standard for a 3-pole MCCB — fits existing DIN-rail or panel-mount cutouts without adapter plates. Maximum power loss is 19.2 W. In a multi-breaker panel, that thermal load adds up — account for it in the enclosure ventilation calculation, especially if the panel is loaded to 80 % or more.
Environmental and compliance range
Operating temperature range: -25 °C to 70 °C. Storage range: -40 °C to 80 °C. The storage minimum is the real boundary for cold warehouses or unheated site containers — the breaker can sit through a -40 °C winter night and still start up when the panel is energized. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V. Front-side protection class is IP40 — suitable for general indoor panel use where no washdown or dust ingress is expected.
