What this MCCB delivers in the panel
The Siemens 3VA1080-3ED32-0AE0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 80 A continuous current at 40 °C through 50 °C — no derating needed across that band, which simplifies BOM calculations for standard industrial enclosures. At 55 °C it still carries 76.8 A, at 70 °C it holds 72 A, so the thermal headroom is generous for a 80 A frame. Breaking capacity is 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. That 52.5 kA at 415 V is the number most panel builders will check first for 400 V distribution — it handles high-fault utility feeds without cascading upstream. Three-pole construction with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module — this is a straight line-protection breaker for feeder or branch circuits where you don't need auxiliary electronics. The 4 HQ auxiliary switches let you remote-indicate trip status or interlock with a contactor. IP40 on the front means it's protected against tools and small wires entering the enclosure opening — standard for a panel-mounted MCCB. No trip indicator on the front face; the HQ aux switches are the feedback path.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. Width at 76.2 mm is three pole pitches for a 3-pole MCCB. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, so it's suitable for 690 V line-to-line systems with adequate clearance. Storage range -40 °C to 80 °C; operating range -25 °C to 70 °C. The TM210 release has an adjustable time delay tr max of 1 second — set it for selective coordination with downstream breakers.
