What this MCCB carries — and where it fits
The Siemens 3VA1080-3ED32-0DA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 80 A at 40 °C with a 75.6 kA interrupting capacity at 240 VAC — that's the headline number for panel builders coordinating downstream branch protection. Three poles, thermal-magnetic TM210 trip unit, and an undervoltage release (UVR) built in. It's designed for line protection, not motor or generator duty, so the trip curve is fixed for feeder and distribution applications. Breaking capacity drops as voltage climbs: 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 500 V and 690 V. That's the SCCR headroom you need for selectivity studies — at 480 V (common in North American panels) the 32 kA at 440 V is the closest published figure, so expect a similar derate. The 80 A rating holds steady from 40 °C up to 50 °C, then tapers to 74 A at 70 °C, which matters for high-ambient enclosures or tightly packed switchboards.
